we started the festivities with some pizza...
eli showing off his huggies...
resting up for the big party
party time (yes, eli is trying to eat a balloon)

we should have known by this look in his eye that giving him chocolate cake was going to be trouble. eli experienced his very first sugar high. i used to think that "coo coo for cocoa puffs" was just a silly slogan. i have since realized it describes a serious disorder resulting from large doses of chocolate given to small children. i'll try to bring you through the stages:
1. intense eating and concentration- he actually sucked down his cake and spent the rest of the time licking his hands
2. the shakes- it was very difficult trying to get pictures at this point because he was in constant motion smearing the frosting in his hair and flapping his arms
3. energy peak- characterized by intense emotion and sudden bursts of unintelligible glee... there was a lot of head shaking and fist clenching here
4. nirvana- the sugar has settled leaving our little friend in a perfectly content state (until we tried to wash the frosting off him of course)
once he had "normalized" a little, we started opening presents
yeah, sept 23rd was a good day for eli

INCREDIBLE! I wish we could have been there! I think the "Nirvana" stage is my favorite one... definitely the best visual capture of them all. We'll have to remember that for Noah's b-day... :)
oh...homes....paint....parties. i want to be back in greensboro...
love the cake photos - what a happy kid, you wouldn't want it any other way. incredible paint job, by the way, I am VERY impressed, especially since it is something I could never do. Congrats on the new vehicle as well!
Hey Mrs Blogger. Glad to know we can keep in touch in yet another way. When did you move to South Carolina?
