and away we go...

I told myself that a 30 hour car trip wasn't that bad- like going to California 3 days in a row and we've been there plenty of times. Plus Grandma gave Eli a busy box to pass the time.
Day 1: Eli got to see Wyoming and Nebraska- including the Cabela's World Headquarters in Sidney, Nebraska. He was quite excited about the fishies, there was even an elephant which of course makes sense because the elephant is indigenous to Nebraska and where would you go other than the Cabela's world headquarters to for all of your elephant hunting needs. Incidently the lady in front of us at the checkout shelled out over $500. We almost ended up in a tornado too!

Day 2: Eli was introduced to his mother's birthplace among the corn fields of Iowa and touched the Mississippi. I remembered how to spell Mississippi and we saw the Nauvoo temple.

Day 3: This was the low point- we have no pictures from this day. A 12.5 hour jaunt turned into a 16 hour death march through Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, and finally North Carolina. I'm not sure what exactly we did with our little detour but we made it. Eli actually didn't mind the car trip- it's all this looking for houses that's killing him!

Congratulations! The last time we tried that, we had TWO kids and no busy box. Never again. By the way, where in NC are you, exactly?

Greensboro- basically an hour from both Raleigh and Charlotte.
